Akshay Kumar reunites with Anees Bazmee after 15 years, ‘Welcome’ director CONFIRMS new comedy

Akshay Kumar is teaming up once again with filmmaker Anees Bazmee after a long gap of 15 years. The two have previously delivered hits like ‘Singh Is Kinng’, ‘Welcome’ and ‘Thank You’, which was their last film together back in 2011.

Now, the duo is all set to collaborate on a new comedy.

The filmmaker recently shared that the project is in the works and that shooting could begin soon if everything falls into place.

Anees Bazmee confirms the new comedy

During a recent chat with Mid-Day, Anees talked about his upcoming collaboration with Akshay Kumar. The filmmaker shared, "It is a comedy. I am writing the script right now, it’s almost complete. If everything goes as planned, we will start shooting soon."

He also spoke about his bond with the actor and said, "There is mutual love and respect between us. When I told him about this film, he was more than happy".

Filmmaker on the changing nature of comedy

The director further highlighted that, earlier, things were more instinctive, but now it has to be written with a lot of thought. He added that one also needs to keep in mind whether the actors can handle that kind of comedy. Anees mentioned that he enjoys writing under pressure as it helps him write better.

When he is happy or angry, something good comes out, but when he is sad or blank, it becomes difficult for him to write.

Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee’s most recent directorial venture was ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, starring Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri and Madhuri Dixit Nene.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar has a packed schedule as he teams up with director Priyadarshan for three upcoming films — ‘Bhooth Bangla’, ‘Haiwaan’ and the highly anticipated ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
