Akshaye Khanna, Bobby Deol reunion? Discussion on with director duo Abbas-Mustan for Humraaz 2

With Dhurandhar, Akshaye Khanna has been basking in renewed popularity for his big-screen performance, much like Bobby Deol, who recently grabbed headlines for his role in Animal (2023). Netizens have been drawing comparisons between the two actors, frequently sharing reels from their 2002 thriller Humraaz, directed by Abbas–Mustan.

This renewed interest has sparked buzz around the possibility of a sequel to the film.In a media interaction, producer Ratan Jain revealed that he would consider making a sequel to Humraaz if the right script comes along — one compelling enough to reunite Akshaye Khanna and Bobby Deol. Speaking on the matter, Jain told Mumbai Mirror, “See, Abbas bhai and Mustan bhai ke saath meri discussion hoti rehti hai. They are working on the script.

If the actors approve of it, then we will go ahead and make the film.

”However, Jain clarified that it is not yet certain whether Abbas–Mustan would direct the sequel. “It all depends on the script. It’s not necessary that the director duo will helm the film. I can’t guarantee that. If they come up with a strong script and it gets approved, then they may direct it,” he explained.Highlighting the time gap since the original film’s release, Jain also spoke about the challenge of bringing the two actors back together. “Humraaz released almost 25 years ago. Both Akshaye and Bobby have evolved tremendously as actors, so the material needs to be compelling enough to excite them. I do have an idea in mind, but it needs to be developed properly before I narrate it to them. I keep discussing this subject with both of them.
