The accused in an attempted rape case involving a minor at in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh, died by suicide by jumping into Komati Cheruvu.

The accused in an attempted rape case involving a minor girl in the Tuni constituency of Kakinada district, Andhra Pradesh, has allegedly died by suicide.

The accused has been identified as Tatika Narayana Rao. He is said to be associated with a political party and was arrested for the alleged attempt to sexually assault a minor girl at the Jagannadhagiri Gurukulam, a residential school.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near Komati Cheruvu on the outskirts of Tuni town.

According to reports, the police were taking Narayana Rao to be produced before a magistrate on Wednesday night when he asked to stop for a toilet break.

As the police vehicle halted, he suddenly jumped into the lake. Rao’s body has been retrieved from the lake.

Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.
