BJP national president J.P. Nadda has rolled out a road map for strengthening the party in Andhra Pradesh.

The development achieved in the country and in the State under the NDA government has to be taken to the doorstep of the people for the party to emerge as a major political force in the State, he says.

Addressing a public meeting organised on conclusion of the State-wide ‘Saradhyam’ yatra undertaken by party State president P.V.N. Madhav in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, Mr. Nadda lashed out at the previous governments headed by the Congress at the Centre and the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh, terming them as non-performing and riddled with corruption.

“Eleven years ago, there used to be politics of non-performance. There was no development, and corruption and nepotism were rampant. In the past 11 years, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is politics of performance. The Modi government cares for the people and has accelerated growth,” Mr Nadda said.

‘Promises fulfilled’

The BJP delivered what it had promised, be it construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya or amendments to the CAA or the Waqf Act, he claimed.

“The party now has 14 crore members, making it the largest political outfit in the world. It has two-crore active members, more than 1,200 MLAs, 170 MLCs, and hundreds of Mayors across the country. The NDA is ruling in 20 States, while the BJP is in power in 13 States on its own,” Mr. Nadda said.

Highlighting the achievements of the NDA government, Mr. Nadda, who is also a Union Minister, said Andhra Pradesh was not lagging behind in any way under the leadership of Mr. Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Dwelling at length the support extended by the Centre in fulfilling various assurances made during bifurcation of the State, he said, “Andhra Pradesh has been given several educational institutions. Amrut Railway Stations are being developed in the State and Vande Bharat trains have been sanctioned. Airports, ports and fishing harbours are coming up in a big way, and medical colleges are also being set up.” The Centre was also giving funds for the development of Amaravati capital city, he added.

Mr. Nadda also highlighted the industrial growth in the State and the support extended by the NDA government in setting up a green hydrogen plant and a bulk drug park at Nakkapalli, and the proposed semi-conductor park.

Launching a tirade against the previous YSRCP government, Mr. Nadda said its five-year term was non-performing and corrupt. “The YSRCP regime was a dark one. The State is coming out of it now and treading the path of development,” he said, and asked the party cadre to give wide publicity to the achievements of the NDA across the State.
