Welcoming the trial court’s verdict convicting Gnanasekar in the Anna University sexual assault case, DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said it has demolished the intentions of opposition parties to use this case for cheap politics.

In a social media post, Mr. Stalin appreciated the police force for completing investigation into the sexual assault case and getting justice within five months. He also thanked the officers involved in the investigation, advocates and the court.

The CM further said that he kept advising the police force that there should not be any offences and if there are, none of the offenders should escape the clutches of law. They should complete investigation early and get them punishment, he said.

“We have demolished the intentions of those in the opposition parties, who once led a government that was mired in controversies but attempted to play cheap politics in this case. Let us take a pledge to uphold the rule of law and the safety of women,” Mr. Stalin said.
