‘Anupamaa’ January 4 written update: Anupama and the chawl bid Bharti farewell; Diwakar’s re-entry shocks everyone

The episode starts with Bharti’s vidaai, as Anupama prepares to say goodbye to her. The two sit and talk, and Anupama says that she’s speechless and not sure of what she should say to her.

Bharti instead asks her to wrap a chunni around her head and simply pretend that Lord Krishna is there with her instead. Bharti thanks Anupama for everything and tells her that she brought light into her life, for which she is forever grateful.

Anupama and Bharti’s talk

Anupama talks to Bharti about how she has always supported her in the past, no matter what the situation was. Bharti gets emotional over this and tells Anupama to never leave her side.

She also compares her to her parents and tells her how much she appreciates her in her life. Rahi also comes around and says that a daughter may leave a mother, but the mother never leaves her daughter, no matter what. Bharti gets ready to leave the chawl and tells everyone that she will miss them, and that Anupama will never let anything happen to their home as long as she is there with everyone. Anupama gives Bharti advice and tells her to stay happy and take care of her new family in her parents-in-law’s home.

She also tells her that simply because she is going to her in-laws’ home and that she is going to be Rajni’s daughter-in-law, does not mean that her autonomy and independence are over in any way. She further tells Bharti to raise her voice when she sees something wrong, and not to stay quiet like most mothers tell their daughters to do when they get married.

Anupama and Varun talk

Anupama advises Varun to understand his wife and to support her through everything.

She also tells him that he should never let Bharti cry, and even tells Rajni to take care of her daughter. In the other scene, Prerna is seen saying that Varun can be easily manipulated and that the couple should stay separately if they wish to be happy. Everyone is left shocked; however, Prerna quickly clarifies that she is joking.When Bharti asks if Prerna will come home with them, she refuses, saying that she will once she is finished with something that she has to do. Anupama asks Rahi to bring all of the things needed for Bharti’s farewell, which sends her down memory lane, remembering when her mother got emotional at her farewell in a similar way. She breaks down as Prem consoles her. Anupama overhears everything and hugs Rahi as the two say goodbye to Bharti.

Prerna wishes to stay in a hotel instead of home

Rajni calls her daughter out for staying in a hotel instead of a home. She repeatedly asks her why she wants to stay away from her family members.

Prerna instead says that she does not wish to go to jail, as she is very interested in seeing how the chawl will be saved when the time comes. Rajni keeps on trying to convince her daughter to come back home; however, she refuses and starts ignoring her.Prerna and Rajni then watch as Anupama, Rahi, and Prem bond over something and hug each other. This leaves Prerna feeling odd, who comments about how not everyone is like that mother-daughter duo. As Anupama bids Bharti farewell and makes a video of her vidaai, the lights around her start flickering, leaving her feeling uneasy as if something bad is about to happen.

Anupama lets Prerna stay in their home

As the wedding processions end, Prerna asks Anupama wether she can stay with her as she does not want to go back to her hotel room. Anupama lets her stay, which leaves Rahi shocked and jealous of her actions. Anupama then reassures her daughter, saying that the only reason she is letting Prerna stay in their home is because if she doesn’t, Rajni may feel as if they do not care what happens to her daughter.

Preview for the next episode

The next episode’s preview shows that Anupama is back in Ahmedabad at the Shah house. Ansh, Paritosh, and Kinjal are all happy to see her there; however, Rahi’s teacher, Diwakar, is also present at their home. This shocks Anupama as she recalls the incident where he tried to grab her and confessed that he was in love with Rahi. Pakhi announces that Diwakar is her soon-to-be husband and tells Anupama not to say anything to him.
