As anticipation builds for the release of James Cameron’s upcoming 'Avatar: Fire & Ash', slated for December 19, 2025, news broke on Thursday that 'Avatar: The Way of Water' will have a special re-release on October 2, 2025.
About the film
The visually stunning sequel which is also one of the highest-grossing films of all time, will return in 3D for just one week, offering Indian fans an opportunity to rediscover the world of Pandora once again as the Sully family team up with the water tribe to fight their common enemy. The sequel continues the saga of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), who must protect their family and seek shelter with the water tribe and immerse themselves in the mesmerising underwater world.
The cast features notable performances from Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Stephen Lang.

Upon its original release in December 2022, 'Avatar: The Way of Water' went on to become India’s highest-grossing Hollywood film, raking in Rs 391.4 crore net and around Rs 477.5 crore gross, according to Sacnilk. The film also earned an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects, underscoring its cinematic brilliance.
About Avatar: Fire and Ash
'Avatar: Fire and Ash', on the other hand, will follow the Sully family as they are threatened by Varang (Oona Chaplin), the leader of the Mangkwan clan who have rejected Eywa. After an unexpected death in their family, Jake Sully and Neytiri will struggle to prevent further casualties among their friends and family during the Second Pandoran War, including their own children. The film that is the third installment in the Avatar film series, is a direct sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water and will be followed by Avatar 4 in 2029. The film is slated to hit the big screen on 19th December.
