Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson M. Lakshman said that the BJP was fomenting trouble in Mysuru by raking up communal issues in the run-up to the Dasara, urging the authorities to crack down on their leaders.
Addressing a press conference, Mr. Lakshman said that some leaders, including BJP’s Pratap Simha, a former MP, were criticising the selection of author Banu Mushtaq for the inauguration of Dasara on a regular basis to spew venom in the society. Hence, Mr. Simha should be “banished” from Mysuru till the conclusion of the Dasara festival, he added.
“If the festival and the celebrations have to be held smoothly, it was imperative to extern Mr. Simha from the district till October 2 when the festivities conclude,”said Mr. Lakshman.
The High Court of Karnataka has already dismissed his petition and the former MP should bow his head and accept the decision, Mr. Lakshman added.
