Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi’s agent Gordon Stipic met with Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl for a discussion pertaining to the possible transfer of the English defender in the summer, following his confirmation of an exit from the London club at the end of the ongoing campaign.

Bayern Munich have identified the 25-year-old English international as their prime target, despite the strong interest from PL side Liverpool.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed on Friday that Guehi officially informed the club earlier in the week that he will not sign a new contract.

The England international’s current deal runs until June 30, meaning he can leave for free next summer or be sold in January if Palace decides to cash in.

Guehi’s decision isn’t entirely surprising. He’s been the subject of long-term transfer interest from Liverpool and Newcastle, both of whom had bids rejected in January and the summer. Liverpool even came close to securing a deal on deadline day last month before Palace pulled out at the final moment, missing out on a significant transfer fee.

Since joining from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has been central to Palace’s rise under Glasner. He has made 167 appearances, earned 26 England caps, and captained the club to its first-ever major trophy—lifting the FA Cup last season—followed by the Community Shield in August.

That run also secured Palace’s first appearance in European competition, a landmark in the club’s history.

Despite being in the final year of his contract, Guehi has remained an ever-present figure this season, anchoring a defence that has helped Palace climb to sixth in the Premier League before the weekend fixtures.

From January 1, Guehi will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs outside England. Palace is reportedly leaning toward selling him in January to avoid losing him for nothing, with Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich all closely monitoring the situation.
