Belagavi–Delhi flights suspended till January 26 due to airspace curbs

BELAGAVI: Direct flight services between Belagavi and New Delhi have been temporarily suspended following airspace restrictions in the national capital ahead of Republic Day celebrations. Airport authorities said the suspension, which began on 19 January, will continue until 26 January. As part of the revised flight schedule, IndiGo flights 6E 5237 and 6E 6579 operating on the Belagavi–Delhi route have been cancelled for security reasons. The disruption has caused inconvenience to passengers from Belagavi and neighbouring districts, particularly business travellers, students, and those travelling to Delhi for urgent work. Belagavi Airport Director Thyagarajan told TOI that the suspension was due to early-morning airspace restrictions in Delhi. “The flight departs from Delhi at 5.30 am for Belagavi. Owing to the restrictions during the morning hours, the service was cancelled,” he explained. He added that normal operations are expected to resume from 27 January.
