Bicholim faces acute parking space shortage

Bicholim: The lack of parking space in Bicholim town has caused hardships for vehicle users, compelling them to park in no-parking areas. Parking has become a major issue due to the lack of a centralised parking space in the centre of the town.Bicholim town has 5–6 parking areas, including those near Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan, the court, and the market areas, but these facilities are insufficient.“When locals park in the left-side lane in front of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan Bicholim, traffic police impose fines even though this does not create traffic congestion. Even when there are more vehicles parked here, it does not create any congestion. However, traffic police are imposing fines without knowing the reality, and they should spare such vehicle owners, as there are no other parking options,” said Deepak Naik, a local.BMC councillor Kundan Falari said the issue will be resolved once the parking facility behind the new Bicholim market is ready, and public cooperation is expected.
