BJP drops candidate after old videos surface showing her slamming Fadnavis
PUNE: The BJP has withdrawn the candidature of Pooja More-Jadhav for the Pune civic polls following opposition from party workers, party leaders said to news agency PTI. More-Jadhav had received the party’s AB form for Ward No 2 under the quota of alliance partner Republican Party of India (RPI). However, her nomination ran into controversy after old videos surfaced on social media in which she was allegedly seen making personal remarks against chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife during the Maratha reservation agitation. Union minister and Pune BJP MP Murlidhar Mohol confirmed that the party had withdrawn her nomination. Responding to the development, More-Jadhav said she had become a target of social media trolling. “Misinformation was spread about me to portray that I do not believe in the BJP’s ideology. In view of the trolling, I took a conscious decision to withdraw my nomination,” she said. She also claimed that the remarks in question were made by “some other girl” and had been wrongly attributed to her on social media.
