BJP misleading people over PESA rules: JMM

Ranchi: Hitting out at the BJP for criticising the PESA rules 2025, which was approved by the state cabinet in December last year, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Monday accused the saffron camp of misleading the people for its own motive.

Stating that it was for the first time that the rules had been framed in Jharkhand, the party called its approval as one of the milestones of the incumbent govt.Party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said, “These (BJP) are the same people who stand with the moneylending system in villages, stand with those who loot forest produce from villages and represent the mafia system in illegal mines deals. They are terrified now because the PESA rules will finally strengthen the gram sabha, and they will decide on their own policies, revenue on getting powers of self-governance as enshrined in the PESA Act.

”Referring to former CMs of BJP, he said, “The great personalities of BJP who are now speaking about PESA are those who did nothing for this when they were in power. On the contrary, they just kept duping tribals, and unleashing atrocities and displace them.”Bhattacharya added that ever since the rules were notified, none of the traditional tribal gram sabha heads criticised it. “Rather, the tribals are welcoming it as it will now guarantee them the powers in scheduled areas,” he claimed.
