The BJP will soon decide on taking me back into the party and giving me a suitable post, Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who has been expelled by the party leadership, said in Vijayapura on Monday.
“During a recent rally addressed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, whenever I appeared on stage, there has been a lot of applause from the crowd. The BJP leadership is watching all this. It will take the right decision about my re-induction and appointing me to a proper position in the party,” he told reporters.
“I am sure they will take a decision soon and end the confusion over the delay in appointment of the State unit BJP president,” he said.
To a query, he said that he treated Mr. Siddaramaiah with respect during his visit to Vijayapura, as he is the Chief Minister and not because of him being a Congress leader.
“This is similar to the respect given by Congress and other Opposition leaders to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is not because he is a BJP leader, but because he is the Prime Minister,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced several projects for my constituency of Vijayapura city, including a government medical college and a flyover, he said.
He described the rally in which the Chief Minister launched development projects worth ₹800 crore as a show of strength.
“That is how politics is played these days. If Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar so desires, let him also come to Vijayapura and hold a rally to demonstrate his strength. But then, he cannot do that. Mr. Shivakumar faced humiliation in Vijayapura earlier and went back,” he said.
