Block-Level Health Fairs Boost Child Health, Digital Integration Across State

anchi: A total of 2,086 children were screened for anaemia and 499 for pneumonia, while 1,165 children were vaccinated against preventable diseases during the block-level health fairs, themed ‘Healthy Society – A Step Towards a Strong Future’, organised by the National Health Mission (NHM) across the state.The five-day fair was organised at community health centres (CHCs) and primary health centres (PHCs) across all 264 blocks of the state from January 5 to January 10. It recorded a total footfall of 2,05,659.Around 14,049 tele consultations were conducted through e-Sanjeevani, strengthening access to specialist medical advice in remote areas. A total of 8,987 pregnant women received ANC check-ups. Additionally, 5,632 PMJAY/CMIAY cards were issued on-site, while 21,997 ABHA Health IDs were generated, promoting digital health integration.National Health Mission director Shashi Prakash Jha said, “The fairs were organised in a planned manner, keeping in view local socio-cultural conditions, disease prevalence and available health infrastructure, so that maximum benefit could reach the community.”Anima Tirkey, a resident of Madhukum, said, “For people like us, visiting big hospitals means losing a day’s wage and spending heavily on travel. The block-level health fair brought doctors, medicines and tests to our doorstep.

I went for an eye check-up.”The programme also saw wide participation in reproductive and family health initiatives, with 6,145 people receiving family planning counselling. In addition, 1,535 beneficiaries availed of tele-consultation services.Moreover, a total of 10,998 blood pressure check-ups were conducted, 3,370 individuals received dental treatment, 3,658 people underwent cancer screening, and 7,230 blood tests were carried out as part of diagnostic services.Screening for blood pressure, diabetes and general ailments are being conducted, along with eye examinations and free distribution of spectacles to patients with visual impairments. Blood donation camps are also organised on all days, along with screening for sickle cell anaemia. Facilities for the creation and distribution of Ayushman Bharat cards and ABHA cards were also made available, while people were informed about AYUSH systems of medicine.
