Tourism and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao termed the BRS boycott of the Assembly as a “calculated move to hide the truth” and said that the party was “fleeing the House to avoid a confrontation with facts regarding their misdeeds” on the Krishna water projects.
Addressing the media at the Assembly Media Point, along with Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari and several MLAs, on Friday, he asserted that the absence of the BRS was a strategic evasion rather than a legitimate protest. This is a pre-planned and deliberate act to avoid discussion on the floor of the House, he said.
He added that KCR and his team were staying away because they know that if they come to the Assembly, they have to face the facts and their lapses, failures, and mistakes will be exposed. No party boycotts the entire session blaming that they were not given sufficient time in the Question Hour, and this is unprecedented.
Mr. Jupally argued that participation in the House is a prerequisite for being heard. Ever since Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had invited the Opposition for a debate on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, BRS had turned nervous.
Recalling the BRS’s own track record, he reminded the public of the 2018 expulsion of Congress MLAs and the suspension of 11 members, including Jana Reddy.
The Minister further highlighted the gross mismanagement of irrigation projects under the previous regime, pointing out that despite the BRS government spending ₹27,000 crore on the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, not a single acre of land received water.
