Karnataka Police have cracked the Lakshmi Devi murder case in Koratagere, Tumakuru, arresting her dentist son-in-law, Dr. Ramachandrappa S, along with two accomplices.

Tumakuru police recovered the severed head of the woman and her partially decomposed, dismembered body, which had been cut with professional precision and stuffed into multiple plastic bags before being dumped along the road at Kolala village in Koratagere.

According to Koratagere police officials, on August 7, passersby discovered seven plastic covers containing human body parts. The following day, August 8, police combed the crime spot and found seven more plastic bags containing additional body parts and the head.

The victim was identified as Lakshmi Devi, aged 42, through the recovered head. Investigations revealed she had been brutally murdered and chopped into 19 separate pieces.

To track down the culprits, Superintendent of Police Ashok K. V. formed a special investigation team. The team arrested Ramachandrappa, along with Satish K. N. and Kiran K. S., all residents of Tumakuru.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to murdering Lakshmi Devi and, in an attempt to destroy evidence, cutting the body into pieces, packing them in plastic covers, and disposing of them in various locations across the state, Ashok said in a press release issued on Monday.

It was learnt that Ramachandrappa harboured suspicions over Lakshmi Devi’s character, which he felt caused him embarrassment, leading him to take the extreme step.
