KOLKATA: Calcutta high court set aside on Monday a suit challenging the Central Board of Film Certification's green light to director Vivek Agnihotri's controversial 'The Bengal Files', saying the petitioner's contention about the film tarnishing his family's image wasn't maintainable.Lawyer Santanu Mukherjee, grandson of freedom fighter Gopal Mukherjee, moved HC on Sept 4, alleging the film resorts to historical distortion and shows his grandfather :in poor light". Mukherjee filed another petition on Monday, seeking specific information under the RTI Act that he said hadn't been provided yet.According to the plea, he wants to know the censor board's role in "considering the depiction of a historical figure in the film" and how its members evaluated it. The censor board's counsel argued that the provision for appeal in this case had lapsed since the petitioner didn't exercise that option when he should have.
