Case against constable for harassing and attempting to kill wife in Odisha's Keonjhar

The woman also approached the Keonjhar SP, alleging that local police were favouring her husband and not arresting him

Keonjhar: A constable has been accused of harassing his wife and repeatedly attempting to kill her in Keonjhar’s Town police station area.Subhashini Mahakud, wife of constable Himanshu Naik posted at Keonjhar district police office, lodged a complaint on Tuesday alleging that her husband forced her to undergo five abortions.

She claimed that during one pregnancy, he kicked her in the stomach, causing a miscarriage.According to her complaint, on Nov 29, 2025, when he allegedly tried to kill her, she called 112 for help. Police rescued her. She further alleged that Naik had taken obscene photos and videos of her and threatened to release them on social media when confronted.On Jan 1, she said, he detained her in their house at Mandua, locked the door, and tried to assault her.

Based on her complaint, a case has been registered at Town police station.The woman also approached the Keonjhar SP, alleging that local police were favouring her husband and not arresting him. She urged the SP to take strict action and ensure justice.IIC of Town police station, Srikanta Sahu, said, “A case was registered on Monday. As per law, the accused was served notice and released on bail. Investigation is underway.”
