Chatra: Chatra deputy commissioner (DC) Kirtishiree G. said that vehicles would be tracked with speed guns to curb rash driving and rising number of road accidents.Addressing a road safety committee meeting on Saturday, the DC said, “Joint drives by the police and transport officials would be intensified to ensure compliance with traffic rules.
Strict action would be taken against violators.”Superintendent of police (SP) Sumit Kumar Agrawal said underage driving would not be tolerated and that parents of minors found driving would also face legal action.Officials also reviewed hit-and-run cases, the ‘Good Samaritan’ policy, and accidents caused by stray cattle. The DC directed municipal bodies to catch stray animals while appealing to citizens not to leave their cattle unattended on roads.Earier, 10 speed guns, donated by a govt bank under its CSR activity, were handed over to police stations in Piparwar, Tandwa, Hunterganj, Simaria, Gidhaur, Chatra Sadar, Pratappur, Jori, Itkhori, and Mayurhand.
