Chief Minister’s breakfast scheme extended to 6,711 more students in Cuddalore district

Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare M.R.K. Panneerselvam on Tuesday launched the Chief Minister’s extended breakfast scheme to State-aided primary schools in urban areas in Cuddalore district.

The scheme will benefit 6,711 students from 64 schools across the district. With the expansion of the scheme, 59,966 students from 1,429 schools in the district will be served breakfast on all weekdays.

Mr. Panneerselvam said the scheme showed perceived improvement in children’s health, increased willingness to go to school, and showed improvement in studies and engagement in class.

The first phase of the Tamil Nadu government’s flagship outreach programme — Ungaludan Stalin — witnessed a good response in Cuddalore, with 69,828 petitions submitted by residents so far. Of these, 13,709 petitions have been resolved, he said.

Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and officials were present.

In Villupuram, K. Selvaperunthagai, Chairperson of Public Accounts Committee launched the scheme at a government-aided school at Kilperumbakkam.

Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman said 3,362 students in 27 government-aided schools would benefit by the expansion of the scheme in Villupuram district.

In Kallakurichi district, Member of Parliament D. Malaiyarasan launched the scheme at the Danish Mission Primary School. As many as 172 students will benefit from the scheme.
