CM pushes for faster execution of Rs 512.9cr Centre-funded projects

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant chaired a review meeting on Friday to assess the progress of key infrastructure works, particularly projects worth Rs 512.9 crore, which are funded through the Centre’s Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme.Sawant also directed officers to ensure strong inter-departmental coordination for waste management.He also discussed efforts to avail assistance from the Centre to meet the present and future requirements of various departments.“I reviewed the overall implementation status, utilisation of funds, and timelines. I directed all executing departments to expedite infra works, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, and ensure timely completion so that the intended benefits reach the people of Goa at the earliest,” said Sawant.The projects that were reviewed pertain to the PWD department, tourism department, waste management, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, and other departments.Sawant reviewed the overall implementation status of projects, utilisation of funds, and timelines.The chief minister said that 77% of the assurances for infrastructure works will be implemented in the current financial year, and the rest in the next year, since construction of infrastructure is expected to spill over into the next fiscal year.

Sawant said that the govt remains committed to fast-tracking development projects that contribute to economic growth.During the meeting, Sawant also reviewed the fiscal borrowings, which he described as sustainable.As of date, the state borrowed Rs 1,300 crore through state development loans out of Rs 3,200 crore allowed by the Centre.
