In a remarkable display of unity, leaders from different political factions in Bihar came together to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took center stage, unveiling a statue that symbolizes Modi's enduring impact.
Patna: Leaders across party lines remembered former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, fondly known as SuMo, on his birth anniversary on Monday.CM Nitish Kumar unveiled his life-size statue at Rajendra Nagar in Patna while senior BJP and JD(U) leaders recalled his contributions to Bihar and its fiscal management as the state finance minister.
Sushil Kumar Modi Memorial Research Institute also organised a function at SK Memorial Hall to pay tributes to Padma Bhushan awardee and one of the biggest BJP leaders in Bihar.In a video message, BJP national working president and Bankipore MLA Nitin Nabin also paid his tributes and recalled how SuMo carved a niche in state politics through transparency in public life since the JP movement.JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha remembered the former state finance minister for his fiscal jurisprudence. “Your contributions, from opposing the Emergency to bringing Bihar out of darkness and into the light, will always be remembered,”Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said Nitish and Sushil Modi worked together for a long time.
He said as the leader of the opposition, SuMo kept the govt on its toes. His financial management was extraordinary. Choudhary appealed to the people, especially BJP workers, to fulfil the dream that Sushil Modi had for the development of Bihar. “Today is the day to take that pledge,” he said.BJP state chief Sanjay Saraogi said they should resolve to carry forward his ideals. “If we can adopt even one of his qualities, it would be a great achievement and a true tribute to him,” he said.
