Congress leader Rajkumar Patel house burgled in Bag Sewania

BHOPAL: The house of senior Congress leader and former minister Rajkumar Patel was burgled by unidentified thieves while he was away at his native village. His mother passed away recently.

The miscreants broke open the lock and decamped with a licensed revolver, valuables, and cash, worth lakhs of rupees.

Bag Sewania police registered a burglary case on Tuesday night and started investigations.According to Bag Sewania SHO Amit Soni, Rajkumar Patel, 62, a resident of Vidya Nagar in front of Barkarullah University, left for his ancestral village Baktra, Sehore district, on September 12 following his mother’s demise.

When he returned on Tuesday night, he found the latch of the side door broken and household items scattered. A check revealed that his licensed revolver and other valuables were missing.Police officials, along with an FSL team, inspected the crime scene but did not find any concrete clues. Since there were no CCTV cameras installed at Patel’s residence, police are now examining footage from nearby houses to trace the burglars.

SI Soni said that the safety vault (safe) kept at the house was found intact. Silver articles, including utensils and idols, were also found kept in the house. The thieves targeted the house between September 12 and 16 when the house was vacant. The complainant is preparing a list of the stolen valuables.Police said that a govt bungalow has also been allotted to the former minister in Char Imli area.A case has been registered against unidentified thieves, and further investigations are underway.
