Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram on X said that 260 lives were lost in the Air India 171 crash and that new material inputs have emerged following preliminary findings. He stated that he is now seeking clarity and accountability in the matter, while sharing a letter written to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Monday.
Emphasising the need for openness, Chidambaram said that transparency cannot be treated as optional when such a large number of lives have been lost. His remarks come amid growing calls for detailed disclosure and responsibility from authorities involved in the investigation.
At least 260 people were killed and dozens injured after a London-bound Air India flight carrying 242 people crashed moments after taking off from Ahmedabad in the world's worst aviation disaster in a decade.
