Convicted bank robbery accused gunned down

Patna: A convicted criminal involved in robbery of Rs52 lakh in 2020 from a Punjab National Bank branch was gunned down by unidentified bike-borne assailants near Vidyapuri Park under Patrakar Nagar police station area in the state capital on Monday evening.The deceased was identified as Aman Shukla (39), who was released from jail in May 2025.The incident occurred around 6.10pm, when Shukla was going on a bike with his family, returning after his son’s routine therapy for autism at a local doctor’s clinic. Two attackers approached from behind on a motorcycle, firing multiple rounds from close range. Three empty bullet shells were recovered from the spot.Local residents and family members rushed the critically injured Shukla to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed during treatment.

Preliminary reports indicated three bullets were fired.City SP (East) Parichay Kumar rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the shooting. The area was immediately sealed, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams were called in. Police are scanning nearby CCTV cameras and conducting investigations in all aspects of the case.“Shukla had a criminal history. He was a key accused in the daring 2020 daylight robbery at the PNB’s Anisabad branch under Beur police station area, where armed robbers looted Rs52.33 lakh after holding staff and customers hostage and destroying evidence. Arrested shortly after, he was released from jail only in May 2025. Additionally, he was running a security company in the city,” the SP said.Police suspect the murder may be linked to old grudges, gang rivalry, or disputes over money distribution from past crimes.
