Couple from Madurai run over by train at Petta in Thiruvananthapuram

Two people were run over by a train at Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) midnight.

The Pettah police identified the deceased as Vinod Kannan and Harivishalakshi of Madurai. The incident occurred around 12.30 a.m. The couple were hit by the Kollam-Tirunelveli train.

While the circumstances behind the deaths are yet to be known, the investigators have not ruled out the possibility of suicide.

The police shifted the bodies to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination after completing inquest proceedings. The relatives of the deceased persons have been informed of the incident, the police said.
