Court orders action against SHO after man framed in robbery case

Sasaram: A local court on Monday directed departmental action against the SHO of Agrer police station for allegedly implicating an innocent person in a false criminal case.The order was passed by the court of District Judge-IV Anil Kumar on Monday during the hearing of a regular bail application related to Agrer police station (case no.

181/2025). The bail plea was filed by the accused, Niranjan Kumar.According to the FIR, the informant, Kishori Paswan, had alleged that Niranjan Kumar, along with two others had snatched his cellphone. The Agrer SHO treated the incident as a case of robbery and invoked Section 309(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following which the accused was immediately taken into custody.During the hearing, the court found the circumstances of the case to be suspicious and directed both the informant and the Agrer SHO to appear before it.

In the court, the informant disclosed that the accused were neither carrying any weapons nor had they managed to snatch his cellphone. He stated that the incident was being falsely projected as a serious offence at the behest of the SHO.The court observed that the matter was merely a scuffle, which was allegedly deliberately converted into a robbery case by the SHO. As a result, the accused was arrested and remained in judicial custody for nearly two months.

While granting bail to Niranjan Kumar, the court directed the DGP, DIG, Shahabad range, and the SP, Rohtas, to initiate departmental proceedings against the Agrer SHO for allegedly framing an innocent person and damaging the image of the police force.
