CPI demands ‘honourable’ seat share

Patna: The CPI on Friday pressed for a “respectable seat allotment” in the upcoming assembly elections, even as it prepared to open its five-day state-level conference in Patna from Sept 8.In a statement issued ahead of the event, the party said, “Serious discussions will be held at the party’s state conference on the matters related to the coming assembly elections. The CPI did not get a respectable number of seats in the grand alliance for the 2020 assembly polls. For the 2025 assembly elections, honourable seat allotment should be done. The party will also adopt a resolution on this matter at the state conference.

”CPI state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey underlined that the state unit had been making extensive preparations across Bihar. “Intense discussions were held at the conferences right from the branch to the district units. The party would make contributions to strengthening and expanding the secular democratic unity, but it also wants that the number of assembly seats allotted to it should be honourable,” he said.Pandey added that all district-level conferences would conclude by Saturday, paving the way for the state conference.

The five-day meet will be held at Gait Public Library, Gardanibagh, Patna, from Sept 8 to 12, with an open session scheduled for the first day. CPI general secretary D Raja, along with other senior leaders and functionaries, will address the gathering.
