The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Wednesday (November 5) launched a scathing attack on State and Union governments, accusing them of pushing the people into distress through “autocratic and anti-people policies.”
Addressing the CPI Andhra Pradesh State Council meeting here, they urged party cadre to build strong mass movements to end what they described as “misrule and corruption-driven governance.”
CPI State secretary G. Eswaraiah said the party would organise a massive ‘Chalo Khammam’ rally on December 26 as part of its centenary celebrations. The CPI would organise week-long celebrations from December 20 to 26.
From November 18, the CPI would intensify statewide movements focused on social justice, BC census implementation and people’s rights. He called on district units to coordinate with like-minded parties, people’s organisations and unions to make the campaign a success and urged people to support for the ‘Chalo Anantapuram’ march led by AISF against privatisation, and for the upcoming cotton farmers’ conference in Kurnool on November 18-19.
CPI Senior leader K. Ramakrishna accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s government of plunging the State into debt and corruption, claiming that over ₹2.5 lakh crore was borrowed within just 17 months. “Privatisation in education and healthcare has reached alarming levels—70% of primary education is in private hands, and medical colleges are being sold off,” he alleged. He said the ruling coalition aligned closely with the BJP and that Andhra Pradesh was effectively under full NDA control.
The meeting was presided over by CPI leader P. Ramachandraiah and CPI senior leaders Palla Venkat Reddy and others spoke.
