Manchester United legend David Beckham has slammed several players at the club, without taking any names, for disrespecting the badge and ‘not acting in the right manner’. His comments came in light of the club’s Asia tour, which began days after their horrible outing in the English Premier League and Europe.

Fielding several youngsters, United lost 1-0 to ASEAN All-Stars before being forced to overcome a first-half deficit to beat Hong Kong 3-1. During the tour, winger Amad Diallo was caught making a derogatory gesture towards a supporter while academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho was spotted in an altercation with a fan.

While Diallo has been a significant silver lining of United’s recent troubling months, Garnacho has been in the eye of the storm. Reports have claimed the latter has been told by manager Ruben Amorim to find a new club because of his comments after the Europa League final, which the Devils lost 1-0 to Spurs.

“I don’t like seeing some of the things that is going on at the club," Beckham said, as quoted by CBS Sports. “You know on the pitch is what counts but in all honesty, I’m seeing a lot of things that are not on the pitch that are not okay in my eyes as a fan and as a lover of Manchester United. You have to represent the badge and that’s what it’s about. And I’ve seen a lot of things where players are not acting in the right manner."

“You know we were part of a team that was so well mannered. We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant. Wherever we travelled, whether it was in Europe or in Asia, you respected the fans. You respected the fact they are turning up, paying money and wanting you to sign and take pictures, you respect that."

In the Premier League, United finished 15th, their worst-ever standing in the league’s modern history. The Europa League final loss meant they won’t play any European football next season, which will put further financial pressure on a club that’s already amid several cost-cutting measures.
