4-year-old kidnapped, thrown off 30-ft cliff by teen neighbor seeking revenge on boy’s mother

NEW DELHI: A four-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being kidnapped, thrown off a 30-ft cliff and bludgeoned with a rock by a 15-year-old boy in a forested area of central Delhi's Anand Parbat.

The teenager was apprehended and told police he wanted to get back at the boy's mother after an incident that led to his father disciplining him.Police received information on Sept 17 about the kidnapping of the boy. The boy's mother complained to the cops that her son disappeared after returning home from his tuition classes around 6.30pm and while playing near their house. The tot could not be traced despite a search being mounted.

A case was registered for kidnapping under Section 137(2) of BNS.Investigators checked CCTV footage, which showed the boy being taken away by the older boy. Upon viewing the footage, the child's mother identified the teenager as their neighbour. Police subsequently apprehended the boy from his residence. The 15-year-old had dropped out of school after finishing Class X. The families of the two boys reside in the same rented premises and run shops.

They have a history of previous disputes.

The motive was the physical punishment the teenager faced from his father after he took the landlord's motorcycle without permission on Sept 17 and abandoned it in another area. The 4-year-old's mother had informed the landlord about this. Police said, feeling aggrieved and seeking revenge, the teenager lured the child away when he was playing near his home and took him to a forested area in Ramjas Park. There, he pushed the boy off a cliff around 30 ft high. He then struck the child with a stone, reportedly with the intent to cause serious harm, before leaving him injured and returning home. The injured kid was later located as directed by the teenager and taken to hospital, where he is under intensive care.Police have also charged the assailant with attempted murder under Section 109(1) of BNS.
