NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old man died and a 29-year-old man was injured when their motorcycle fell into a ditch in southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur Pusta area, reportedly while being chased by dogs.According to police, the deceased, identified as Tushar Kumar, was a compounder at a local clinic from JJ Colony, Madanpur Khadar, Kalandi Kunj. The injured rider, Sudhakar Singh, a pharmacist and medical practitioner from the same locality, is currently undergoing treatment. Both were colleagues and friends, said police.The incident occurred near Shri Ram Chowk, towardsthe Yamuna side, about 200 metres from Pusta Road, around 11.30 pm on Saturday. According to the FIR, Singh said he had gone out with Tushar to look for his cousin after a domestic dispute. “We encountered four to five dogs running towards us. Tushar sped up, but the motorcycle’s headlight wasn’t working. It climbed onto a pile of mud and fell into a ditch. I jumped forward and fell on my hands, but Tushar’sforehead hit the ground,” Singh told police. Tushar was declared dead at the hospital.A case was registered under sections 281 (rash driving), 106 (causing death by negligence), and 125 (endangering life) at Kalandi Kunj police station.
In a separate incident in south Delhi, a 58-year-old tailor, Fakeere Khan of Devli Extension, died after being run over by a water tanker tractor on Tigri Road on Sunday evening. According to his son, Khan came under the tyre of the vehicle, which was later moved by the tanker's owner, the driver’s brother.A case was registered under sections 281 and 106 at Tigri police station. The tractor driver, Rahul (30), has been arrested.
