Drunk Excavator Operator Runs Amok, Runs Over Parked Vehicles In UP’s Deoria

In a shocking incident, an allegedly drunk Poclain (excavator) operator lost control of the heavy machine and rammed into several parked vehicles in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening on CC Road near the Hanuman Temple when an out-of-control bulldozer crushed several parked cars and two-wheelers. The incident, caught on camera, drew attention of residents and authorities.

As per the footage, the driver was seen losing control of the heavy machine and smashing multiple four-wheelers along the road.

Eyewitness Abhishek told NDTV that the operator swung the machine from side to side, crushing vehicles in its path. “The Poclain driver ran over four to five vehicles. Chaos broke out at the spot," he said.

In the footage, bystanders can be seen rushing towards the machine and pleading with the operator to switch off the engine. At one point, a man sitting inside a black SUV narrowly escaped death as the crowd pulled him out moments before the excavator smashed the vehicle’s bonnet.

Some people attempted to climb onto the machine to restrain the driver, but he allegedly restarted it, briefly pushing one man before turning the excavator towards the crowd.

As panic spread, pedestrians ran in different directions while two-wheeler riders diverted onto the footpath to avoid being hit. Another eyewitness, Rakesh, said the excavator appeared to be deliberately crashing into vehicles and that the driver seemed unresponsive to calls to stop.

According to the police, the driver of the bulldozer was intoxicated at the time of the incident and has been detained.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
