Panaji: Dry weather conditions continued to prevail across the state, with a noticeable dip in minimum temperatures recorded at several locations, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).On Thursday, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Dabolim at 17.4 degree celsius, while Panaji registered the highest maximum temperature of 31.4 degrees celsius.
This marked a cooler night compared to the previous day, when minimum temperatures stood at 19 degrees celsius in Panaji and 19.2 degrees celsius in Mormugao.Observational data recorded on Jan 2 showed that Panaji reported a maximum temperature of 30.6 degree celsius at 5.30pm, which was 1.8 degrees below normal, while Mormugao recorded 31.2 degrees celsius at 8.30am, 0.8 degrees below normal. Minimum temperatures were near normal in Panaji at 20.4 degrees celsius, marginally higher by 0.2 degrees, whereas Mormugao recorded a slightly cooler minimum of 20 degrees celsius, 1.6 degrees below normal.Despite the recent drop, the IMD forecast a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 1–2 degrees over the next three to four days. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the state until Jan 8. The weather office also warned of shallow to moderate haze or mist at isolated places during the early morning hours over the same period.The IMD advised residents to expect continued dry conditions with cool mornings in the days to come.
