A day after a clash between supporters of the Janata Dal (United) and Jan Suraaj Party in Bihar’s Mokama left one person dead, the Election Commission on Friday sought a report on the incident from the state’s Director General of Police.
An EC statement said the commission had sought a report from the DGP on the incident, which comes just a week before polling in phase one of the Bihar Assembly elections on November 6. The second phase of polling is scheduled for November 11.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when a fight allegedly broke out between groups supporting the two parties. A resident of Tartar village, Dular Chand Yadav, 75, was found dead by police inside a vehicle at the site of the clash.
