Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession in Ranchi
Ranchi: Eid Milad-un-Nabi was observed with fervour across Ranchi city amid elaborate security measures by the administration. Processions were taken out from different parts of city to the Risaldaar Baba Mazaar in Doranda.The processions started arriving on the Main Road via Karbala Chowk at around 2:30 pm. The religious leaders informed the followers about the importance of the day at Ekra Masjid after which they moved on to reach their destination.General secretary of Sunni Central Barailwee Committee, Aquilur Rehman said, “The procession were taken out from around 50 places in the district. The procession followed the prescribed routes and moved in a disciplined manner.”A social worker Adil Rashid said, “The festival was held peacefully. Several social organisations had arranged for drinks for the people in processions. The Muslim dominated colonies were decorated with lights and flags.”Meanwhile, the district administration had deployed seven magistrates along with police at different places to escort the processions toward Doranda. The crowd was being monitored with the help of drones provided to DSPs of Hatia and city area.
Further, the administration had deployed magistrates along with police force at around 100 places in the city to maintain law and order. Quick reaction teams with anti-riot gear were in reserve while rapid action police along with their vehicles were positioned at places from where they could move to different places easily.Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said, “The festival was held smoothly and peacefully. All the senior officers were on the spot to monitor the festivities and ensure law and order. Social organisations also played important role. The processions ended by 6:30 pm.”
