Elderly woman lay dead at home for six days in Lalgudi

A 70-year old woman was found dead at her residence in East Vellanur in Lalgudi by the police on May 31.

Police investigation revealed that M. Lakshmi, who had been living alone in a hut in Lalgudi, died of head injuries. The police said she was fast asleep when a wooden pole from which the fan was hung broke and the appliance to fall on her head causing severe injuries. The body, which had been reportedly lying in the house for six days, was sent to the Lalgudi Government Hospital for a postmortem and was handed over to the owner of the property where she had been staying.
