Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (formerly Twitter) is down for thousands of users globally, according to performance monitoring service Downdetector.com. The outage has impacted thousands globally, with user complaints related to app and website.
A chunk of users claim server problems. The problems began surfacing at approximately 7.30 pm on Tuesday, January 13, with complaints racing their peak at around 8:15.Global incident reports on Downdetector exceeded 28,000, with roughly 2,200 originating from Indian users at peak disruption. X was also down for more than 7,000 users in the UK, and for more than 2,700 users in Canada, as per news agency Reuters.Members of the The Times of India's technology team was able to access X through mobile devices as well as website, though some video content failed to load on the web.Approximately 59% of global users reporting problems complained of difficulties in accessing the app while 25% of affected users struggle with access on website. Roughly 16% experienced server connection failures, as per Downdetector. X has not issued any public statement regarding the cause of the problems.This outage is latest in a series of technical difficulties, following similar widespread disruptions in November, in October due to Cloudflare, and in July and August, preventing thousands from using the service.This is a developing story…
