The Government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to constitute a fact-finding committee to inquire into the derogatory social media posts and initiate stern action against the accused, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has said.
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the authorities concerned to take stern action against those posting insulting comments against women on the social media platforms. We are ready to bring an Act to check the trend,” Ms. Anitha said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders are issuing false statements. Some media organisations supporting the YSRCP are publishing articles that are far from reality on the Amaravati capital city,” Ms. Anitha said.
“A few print and electronic media organisations are trying to mislead and terrorise the people stating that Amaravati capital has been submerged in floods,” the Home Minister alleged.
“Lakhs of people fought for Amaravati. Now, the NDA has taken up several development activities in the capital region. Unable to digest the progress being made in Amaravati, the YSRCP is resorting to false propaganda,” she said.
