Faridabad shocker: Stepfather arrested for killing 3-year-old; dumps body in bushes

GURGAON: A 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his three-year-old stepson and dumping the body in bushes in Sector 58, Faridabad. The accused, identified as Prashant (28), a resident of Aryanagar in Ballabhgarh, allegedly murdered the boy after a dispute with his wife over sending the child to the house of his maternal grandparents.Police said the shocking incident came to light after the child’s mother, a Ballabhgarh resident, lodged a complaint stating that her husband, Prashant, took her three-year-old son from her first marriage on October 19 and did not return.

The woman told police that she married Prashant about a year ago, and since then he often insisted that her son be sent to live with his maternal grandparents. When she refused, frequent arguments broke out between them.

The couple did not have any child from their wedlock.Acting on her complaint, a case of kidnapping was initially registered at City Ballabhgarh police station, and the investigation was handed over to the Agrasen Chowk police post. Police eventually traced and arrested the accused on Friday.During interrogation, Prashant confessed to the crime, police said. “The accused told us that on October 19, while his wife was not at home, he beat the boy and punched him in the stomach.

When the child began vomiting, Prashant took him on his motorcycle, pretending to take him to a doctor. Instead, he killed the child and dumped his body in bushes in Sector 58,” Sub Inspector Yashpal, police spokesperson, Faridabad said.Police recovered the body on Friday and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The accused has been remanded to one-day police custody for further questioning. "As the accused has been taken in one-day police custody, it will be checked if the child died after being punched at home or if the accused killed him in Sector 58 where he dumped the body. Autopsy of the child was conducted by the board of doctors on Saturday," SI Yashpal said.Officials said more details will emerge once the post-mortem and forensic reports are received. A murder case has been registered at City Ballabhgarh police station.
