The Singareni field visit rule was introduced by the BRS regime and not by the Congress government, said Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Media Committee chairman Sama Rammohan Reddy.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy was surprised at the allegations that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s relative Srujan Reddy was favoured for Singareni contracts. He said that the same person was given contracts during BRS rule as well, and asked the BRS leaders not to spread false information.

In fact, contractors were hired at 14% and 32% higher than the quoted price during their rule, he said.

Mr. Reddy reminded that the hue and cry raised by BRS MLA Harish Rao on SIT enquiry was to divert attention from the seriousness of the phone tapping and his role in it. Can Mr. Harish Rao come out openly to state that his phone was not tapped during the BRS regime? he asked. “More truths will come out and the role of even BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao will be exposed,” he added.

He also accused KTR of spreading “false narratives” regarding the Supreme Court's directions on the phone tapping issue. The SC’s directions were related to a petition filed by Siddipet Congress leader Chakradhar Goud. The present case is related to the enquiry in the phone tapping case by the SIB during the BRS regime.
