Five BRS corporators from Khammam join Congress

In a setback to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Khammam, five corporators of the Khammam Municipal Corporation joined the Congress in the presence of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud.

The corporators who switched allegiance are Golla Chandrakala (Division 25), Donovan Saraswathi (Division 32), Dade Amruthamma (Division 40), Chirumamilla Lakshmi (Division 12) and Motharapu Sravani (Division 55).

Welcoming them into the party, Mr. Mahesh Goud along with State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, presented them with Congress scarves and expressed confidence that their experience would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Mr. Goud said the development reflects growing support for the Congress in urban local bodies and signals shifting political equations in Khammam ahead of future electoral contests.
