NALSAR University of Law has appointed former Chief Justice of India Justice B.R. Gavai as the B.R. Ambedkar Chair Professor on Constitutional Law and Social Inclusion.
In this capacity, Justice Gavai will head the activities of the Chair, including research, teaching, and academic initiatives, in areas of constitutional law, access to justice, and social inclusion.
The university also appointed Anurag Bhaskar, former Director of the Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court, to assist in setting up and effective functioning of the Chair, and senior advocate K. Parameshwar as adjunct professor to contribute to the academic, research, and outreach activities of the Chair.
The Chair was established with financial support from the government. The university said that it will shortly initiate the activities of the Chair, including the recruitment of a dedicated team of researchers, the launch of thematic research projects, academic programmes, policy-oriented studies, and public engagement initiatives aligned with the Chair’s mandate.
