MK Stalin announces Foxconn’s ₹15,000 crore investment in Tamil Nadu; PMK says ‘Foxconn denied any new deal’.
A political slugfest erupted in Tamil Nadu after Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Anbumani Ramadoss accused the DMK government of “lying” about a new Rs 15,000 crore investment from Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn.
Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced on X that Foxconn had decided to invest Rs 15,000 crore in Tamil Nadu, creating 14,000 jobs, calling it “the Dravidian Model in action.”
Industries Minister TRB. Rajaa echoed the claim, saying the investment would strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as South Asia’s manufacturing hub.
However, Anbumani Ramadoss cited Foxconn’s clarification that no new agreements or commitments were made during its meeting with the Chief Minister in Chennai. “No talks regarding new investments in Tamil Nadu; Foxconn denies making any commitments. DMK government’s falsehood exposed in half a day,” he posted on X.
Anbumani accused the DMK government of “fraud” in industrial investment claims. “Ninety percent of DMK’s investment announcements are bundles of lies,” he alleged, demanding a white paper on all investments made during the party’s tenure. He also cited Google’s decision to set up an AI hub in Andhra Pradesh as an example of Tamil Nadu’s missed opportunities.
Industries Minister TRB Rajaa called Anbumani’s remarks a “sabotage attempt driven by political malice.” He said, “Whenever employment opportunities are secured for Tamil Nadu’s youth, some people try to derail them. One such person is now venting anger from his family disputes onto the state’s future.”
Rajaa maintained that Foxconn had indeed made a “confirmed investment” after months of negotiations. He dismissed the PMK leader’s claims as “childish and politically motivated,” adding that the project was officially confirmed only after the government was confident of its implementation.
