With the NBA trade deadline approaching, Memphis Grizzlies superstar point guard Ja Morant is making headlines, but not for his dominating play on the court. The 26-year-old bought a high-profile real estate in South Florida.
This news broke amidst a whirlwind of trade rumors linking the 2-time NBA All-Star with various potentially interested franchises. As per ESPN’s Sham Charania, the Grizzlies are entertaining offers for Morant’s trade, while the rival executives believe the Grizzlies are interested in young faces and draft picks. As per Miami-Dade County property records, Morant has reportedly finalized the purchase of a $3.2 million luxury estate in Miami.
This move has definitely sent the NBA world into a frenzy, and questions have been raised regarding his long-term future in Memphis.
Ja Morant’s luxury retreat fuels ongoing trade rumours
Ja Morant’s new real estate shopping has sent the fans into a chaotic whirlpool as this move, combined with the ongoing trade drama, seems to be fueling every single assumption. But sources close to the player suggest the purchase is a lifestyle investment rather than a definitive sign of an impending jersey change.
And as per the records, Morant purchased this $3.2 million property in December 2025, long before any trade rumours started flying around.
Though the address hasn’t been disclosed due to safety reason but, it is believed that it is situated somewhere about 20 minutes away from the Miami Heat’s home court, Kaseya Center, situated in downtown Miami, Florida. This new property is a testament to Morant’s status as one of the league’s premier earners. Morant was drafted as the No.2 pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019 and went on to become a cornerstone for the franchise’s offensive front. He’s currently under a $197 million contract that will keep him at Memphis through the 2027-28 season while paying him a $39 million for 2025-26. He averaged 19.0 points, 7.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 40.1% from the field before sustaining a calf contusion. He has missed the Grizzlies' last five games and is expected to return in Thursday’s contest against the Magic.
For a player like Ja Morant, who has dealt with significant off-court scrutiny and injury setbacks over the last two seasons, this new home represents a private sanctuary for the off-season due to its exclusivity. Also read: WNBA Superstars A’ja Wilson and Angel Reese Join Stephen Curry’s GOAT
