Despite the recent war of words and outbursts against some party leaders, former Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader G. Sudhakaran participated in the commemoration of the Punnapra-Vayalar uprising.

On Monday morning, Mr. Sudhakaran handed over a torch to be taken to Vayalar to mark the 79th anniversary of the uprising at Valiya Chudukkad, near Alappuzha.

Earlier this month, Mr. Sudhakaran had said that there was no issue with the party and that he continued to be a member of the CPI(M). He said he had made certain remarks about Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian because the latter had made an “un-Marxian” statement against him through the press.

Mr. Sudhakaran had also received an invitation to the inauguration of the Naluchira bridge across Karuvatta Leading Channel on Monday. He was reportedly invited to a government function after several years. However, he did not attend the programme.
