After months of speculation and delays, the much-awaited Telugu rural crime drama 'Ghaati' has finally locked both its theatrical and OTT release dates. Starring Anushka Shetty and Vikram Prabhu in lead roles, the film is all set to clash with Sivakarthikeyan’s 'Madharaasi' at the box office on September 5, 2025.

In 'Ghaati', Anushka Shetty takes on one of the most daring characters of her career. She plays an independent woman who, pushed by circumstances, turns into a weed trader and carves out a name for herself in the business. The story promises to blend raw rural intensity with high-octane action, giving Anushka a powerful role that breaks away from her usual choices. Alongside her, Vikram Prabhu will be seen playing a pivotal role.

OTT rights and record deal

While Ghaati is gearing up for a September 5 theatrical release, its digital debut is also creating waves. As reported by OTT Play, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the film’s streaming rights for a record price, reportedly the highest OTT deal in Anushka Shetty’s career. The film will be available for streaming in the first week of October 2025, barely a month after its theatrical run.According to the reports, the makers have already recovered half of the production budget through this deal.


The team behind 'Ghaati'

'Ghaati' is directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, known for his flair in delivering hard-hitting stories. The film carries a U/A certification and runs for 2 hours and 37 minutes. Nagavelli Vidya Sagar has scored the music, while Manojh Reddy Katasani and Chanakya Reddy Toorupu have handled cinematography and editing respectively.With the trailer already receiving strong responses, the stage is set for a massive showdown between 'Ghaati' and 'Madharaasi' this September. Meanwhile, the buzz is high for Sivakarthikeyan's ;Madharaasi', which makes the competition more interesting.
