Ghost village: How a tribal woman’s beheading sparked ‘Manipur-like strife’ in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Charred mud walls and damaged belongings strewn all over are what remain of arson-hit Malkangiri Village-26 (MV-26) in Odisha, days after a tribal mob from neighbouring Rakhalguda ran riot in this pocket of Bangladesh-origin settlers over the beheading of a tribal woman.

The district administration has set up a special investigation team to probe the murder.
MV-26, home to 188 families, is now deserted, with no residents remaining as security forces continue to patrol the area.
