Greater Noida dowry murder accused shot in police encounter

NEW DELHI: Vipin, prime accused in the Greater Noida dowry murder case, was injured in a police encounter on Sunday.Police said Vipin attempted to flee custody after being arrested in connection with the case of his 26-year-old wife, who was allegedly tortured and set ablaze by him and his family.

Officers opened fire when he tried to escape, resulting in a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment under police security. Authorities confirmed that further investigation into the dowry death case is ongoing, and action against other family members named in the FIR is also underway.
